Cultural Anthropologist, wellness Consultant, and accomplished interdisciplinary artist, dedicated to curating captivating and transformative experiences within diverse settings, including corporate environments, theatrical realms, bars and clubs, dynamic street performances, and thoughtfully tailored site-specific presentations.

Andreína Maldonado (She/her) is a Venezuelan anthropologist, performing artist, cultural worker, and registered Integral Yoga practitioner based in Yelamu, Ohlone Territory colonially known as San Francisco, California. She is a recipient of the "Artists in Communities" and "Individual Artist" grants from the San Francisco Arts Commission, the California Arts Council, the National Association for Latino Arts & Culture (NALAC), and Marin Headlands Center for the Arts,  for working with domestic workers and day laborers in artistic projects that give the voice back to the workers, places them at the forefront of community organizing efforts, and shift dominant narratives about labor. Andreina is the founder of BienStar Consulting, and co-founder of Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds, a free wellness and arts program for domestic workers and day laborers started in collaboration with Dance Mission Theater and the La Colectiva de Mujeres.

 

Her work addresses the lack of artistic and healing spaces that exist in low-income communities and centers the voices of Latine people most affected by social inequities. She employs principles of community organizing, Popular Education and art to build resilience and improve the lives of immigrant people in the Bay Area. Andreina avidly collaborates with other artists to create compelling work that represents a diversity of stories and aesthetics. In the Winter of 2019 Andreina presented her first full-length solo performance with La Diaspora Festival in Puebla, Mexico. Currently, Andreína teaches Integral Yoga classes with the San Francisco Integral Yoga Institute and The Women's Building, and performs frequently with her band IИTI and as a solo artist.

Su trabajo aborda la falta de espacios artísticos y de sanación que existen en las comunidades de bajos ingresos y centra las voces de las personas Latinas más afectadas por las desigualdades sociales. Ella emplea principios de organización comunitaria, Educación Popular y arte para desarrollar resiliencia y mejorar la vida de las personas inmigrantes en el Área de la Bahía. Andreína colabora ávidamente con otros artistas para crear trabajos artísticos convincentes que representan una diversidad de historias y estéticas. En el invierno de 2019, Andreina presentó su primera actuación como solista de larga duración con el Festival La Diáspora en Puebla, México. Actualmente, Andreína imparte clases de Yoga Integral con el Instituto de Yoga Integral de San Francisco y El Edificio de la Mujer, y se presenta frecuentemente con su banda IИTI y como solista.
