Artist Statement by Nina Limón (Andreína Maldonado)

 

 

Crafting from the Boundless: I forge interdisciplinary art that defies the constraints of form, time, and space. It unfolds organically, a tapestry woven in the fluid dance between improvisation and structured composition. My inspiration springs from three profound passions: the cosmic dance of Connection and Synergy, the primal embrace of Earth and Motherhood as echoed in Ecofeminism, and the poignant odyssey of Longing and Hope, a narrative etched by the Immigrant Experience.

These passions converge in a rich tapestry of exploration, unfurling across cosmic vistas, tracing the sacred nexus of Nature and Womanhood, and fueling the fervent crusade for Social Justice that embraces Indigenous communities, people of color, immigrants, animals, and the very fabric of nature. My intention is to whisk the observer away into alternate dimensions, where empathy permeates the senses, and the tapestry of our collective consciousness gleams with purpose and ancestral legacy.

My journey as a formally trained musician and dancer forms the bedrock for my unique and authentic aesthetic. Through original musical compositions and choreography that marries the wisdom of tradition with the verve of the contemporary, I craft a sensory symphony that extends beyond sight and sound, embracing touch, scent, and visual reverie. My aspiration is to orchestrate an intricate symphony, interweaving music, dance, and performance art into an deeply felt experience.

Yet, my artistic voyage thrives upon collaboration—an entwining of souls with fellow artists and the community at large. Within this embrace, a kaleidoscope of voices and bodies meld, celebrating a diverse experiences and insights. Together, we dismantle the dogma of hyper-individualism, painting bold strokes across the canvas of the art world's collective consciousness.
